The remodel of the second floor of this two family home has become one of my favorite jobs. I was given considerable creative control and that always results in my best work. All the design and layout work was done in-house. This 1,300 2/ft apartment underwent a total transformation. We gut rehabed both the kitchen and bathroom as well as moved walls to change the layout and improve upon the original design including adding more closet and storage space. The result is an elegant contemporary apartment with all the modern acoutrements. We maintained the original character of the vintage 1929 construction by saving and reusing all the original trim, doors and hardware. We tried to keep the period feel while completely updating every thing else in the home, including the plumbing and all the wiring. We also updated the heating system with a 95% efficiency boiler with indirect hot water heater. The final result is an improved layout with more usable space and more functionality. The design of the kitchen and bath are pretty nice too. Look at the details.
